Phoebe from Woolooma Glasshouse reached out to me as they were in need of a photographer to capture their newly rebuilt luxury accomodation. She had seen some of the other jobs I had done where it was a mix of lifestyle and interiors and told me that was exactly what they were after. So we locked it in, and before we knew it, Gemma and I were off to stay on top of a mountain.

Upon arrival we met Phoebe down near a wool shed and she told us our car would stay here for the couple of nights of our stay and we would take the Polaris buggy up the mountain. I didn’t know if this was overkill or just part of the experience, in the end it definitely wasn’t overkill and it 100% added to the experience. The 20 minute or so ride up the mountain was insanely fun (and I am glad we didn’t try it in our little family SUV). We crossed a river, scrambled up rocky roads, splashed through mud and dodged some wild life. I can’t forget, the whole drive was breathtakingly beautiful.

We made it to the top and we were gobsmacked. This place was stunning. So remote, so beautiful and just so perfect. I was so glad Gemma was able to come up with me and play assistant and model, and that we were lucky enough to be staying here for a few days! When I say this sits alone on top of a mountain, I mean it. The view is incredible. You look out over beautiful country side with mountains and lakes in the background, rollings clouds and not a house within earshot.

It was going to be so easy to kick back and relax, but that wasn’t why I was here. So I got snapping. I wanted to get all the interior shots done as the place was so inviting and comfortable looking, I didn’t want us to mess it up. The two rooms are cosy, simply but elegantly furnished. The bathroom is exactly what you need for your stay (big enough, hot shower and some beautiful hand made soaps). The kitchen had everything you needed including some beautiful hand made pottery homewares. The main attraction though was the sunken lounge room. 180 degree glass walls overlooking the valley, a huge fireplace in the centre of the room and a curve couch wrapping around the fireplace. This place was heaven. No TV, no reception, the perfect place for a digital detox and to reconnect and relax.

Another awesome thing about the Glasshouse is when you stay here, you are provided with meals you can easily cook/heat up that are super tasty (including some moorish cookies. The nearest shop is, well, unaccessible really unless you call Phoebe up to come get you, so these tasty goodies are perfect. It means no reason to leave! Of course I would recommend to take a few wines or beers on your trip as sunset outside is the perfect spot for an afternoon beverage.

If you do feel like going for a bit of a bush walk or explore, there is no shortage of room. There are walking tracks or you can just freestyle it and wander around. You can spot eagles soaring in front of the house, kangaroos jumping about and if you are lucky, you might spot the family of mountain goats that call Mt Woolooma home.

I could seriously go on about this place. It was pure heaven. Amongst all the shooting I did get some time to just take it in. We had a huge thunder storm one afternoon and night that was perfection (sitting in front of a fire with a glass of wine hearing the rain outside is absolute bliss). We had sunshine another day and clouds the other, and in each weather condition this place was still amazing.

If you are looking for a luxury getaway a few hours from Sydney where you want to disconnect from technology and just relax, can’t recommend Woolooma Glasshouse enough!
